I love the concert very much. And it is great that now everyone can actually listen to the "motivation" for recording "Eye of the Hunter". This is really great

This was a real surprise for me as a gift for Samain. Big thanx!
And quite interesting to hear "Sloth" and "The Captive Heart" in what was, I guess, there first (or nearly) live presentation 6 years before their recording.

Initially I was a bit confused, cause the archive I downloaded had "'99" in its title and then I re-read my mail message and realized it was from '93 actually.

Thanx a lot! Great surprise really.

Sorry to post twice but I believe I inadvertently posted the previous entry in the wrong area.

I am very much looking forward to Brendan's forthcoming album. His lyrics and voice have moved me for almost 20 years now. Let it suffice to just say a deeply felt thank you.

I was wondering when I receive the link to download the concert material. I already receive the confirmation link about the newsletter but the music link was not in it.

The website is also excellent - I am the editor of a music label website and admire simplicity.

    Greetings from Berlin,

    Jerome

    Hi Jerome,

Steve Jones from G-RAFF here - we're just ironing out a few issues with the system and realised that althought the link was sent out with the first newsletter, it was not included in the new subscriptions email. That has now been corrected, but you may need to get it especially. Please email me at this address to request the download link. Thanks for the nice comments, and sorry for the inconvenience. We'll be looking at the link email sequence on Monday.

The link is included in an e-mail that is sent separately from the confirmation email you have first received. Pls be patient for these e-mails. Dear Brendan "Thank you" for this wonderful gift, and the many others you gave us in the last 20 years. Really glad to hear that you are back at work on a new release. I am really looking forward to listen to the new album and see you in concert, once again! I have been attending your concerts since the 80´s and never been disappointed, each one has been a real treasure and a gift!
All the ones who can so deeply touch and inspire others with their art have a great responsibility. A blessing and a curse, I guess, but what a meaningful life!

I downloaded the concert the other day and burned it to disc. My wife and I listened to it in the car on a trip we took this weekend. She is falling more and more in love with Brendan's work. Her and I normally have very different tastes when it comes to music. Finally, there is music that her and I can both agree on and love together. What a wonderful gift and treasure. I too would like to express my gratitude Brendan. Thank you.

I simply LOVE this recording, really incredible feel and amazing performance. I really wish you could make an original CD print of this. The recording quality is exceptional, stellar for a live performance, and the compressed file quality is really really good. But nevertheless I would be really happy to pay for an original CD for my collection, this would detract nothing from the wonderful gesture of making this version freely available to the public (the way it should be if you ask me :-). But this is a different story.

Listening to it right now for the 3d time today. THXS again.

    Thank you for this treat.

May I suggest that future downloads will be made available in flac or some other lossless format.

:-) There won't be that many downloads and Flac has some disadvantages.

What's wrong with FLAC? I would have thought it was ideal: it's an open standard and lossless, so you can convert from it to anything else. OK, the files aren't the smallest, but that's what you get with lossless audio. Bandwidth is getting ever cheaper, anyway.

Most people use Windows Media Player or iTunes, neither of which support FLAC. That's the problem with it!

Well, I was asking the original poster, Adrian, and perhaps he meant something else.

But WMP does support FLAC; it just doesn't come with it. Downloading the required codec is trivial, however, because FLAC is an open standard.

As far as iTunes is concerned, a quick Google search reveals that it, too, can be made to support FLAC. It takes a little more effort, thanks to Apple's anti-consumer lockdown practices, but it can be done.

Finally, the deliberate omission by companies of FLAC in their products and their subsequent attempts to make it difficult or impossible for others to add that support is not a failing of FLAC itself. FLAC is nothing more than a codec and should not be judged on anything other than its technical merit.

Rather, such omissions and complications are ill-conceived attempts by large corporations to control consumer behaviour and lock customers into proprietary technology. I would argue that this is a failure of those companies or, at the very least, a failure of the market to boycot such blatantly anti-competitive behaviour.
