Cripes, you could hear a pin drop in here for the last few days... Should I assume that everybody is holding their breath waiting for an official announcement? Didn't Brendan say something a while back about things unfolding in August?

Well yes, it is awfully quiet. C'omon folks, there's lots of neet things to talk about besides waiting for Brendan's album! I know, I'll start a film thread...
  2.
Well ... according to Heidi Berry she recorded about 40 songs, a few years ago. By the end of 2009, she will have recorded 120 songs :) Is she ever going to release them?
The guys from Massive attack say ever year they are going to release their next album.
Elisabeth Fraser's solo album was never released.
David Gilmour (Pink Floyd) said (more than 10 years ago) during a Jools Holland-show ... "I doubt there will be a Pink Floyd-album next year".

In the end ... who is the Joker? :) Indeed, let's talk about film!

Maybe all the forum members have taken a vow of silence, not to be broken until Arc appears...

No vows LOL Personally, I am just holdin my breath for big surprises...

You know, I was just thinking a week ago ... maybe I should start a discussion on films, and I thought... "nah, probably everyone will just ignore it." But, now you have gone and done it, and now it seems a brilliant idea! LOL

Perhaps this might wake everyone up?

Piano Magic's official 10th album will be released on 12th October 2009.
'Ovations' was produced by Gareth Parton at his La Planque studio and at The Fortress Studios in London during May - August of this year.
The band are delighted to announce that the album features very special contributions from Brendan Perry and Peter Ulrich of Dead Can Dance.
The album will be released in CD form on Make Mine Music for the World excluding North America and Asia where it will be out on Darla in CD and 180mgs vinyl form (with download token).

    More information very soon.

    I'm not dead yet either.
  10.
I'm not familiar with Piano Magic but I guess I will be soon! Glad to hear that Peter Ulrich is involved too, I'm looking forward to his upcoming third album, I don't think there's any sign of it on the horizon yet, but I can still look forward to it...
  11.
No pressure, Peter. And no pressure, Brendan!
  12.
Interesting...will have to check out Piano Magic then. ;)
  13.
(whispering) ...Thanks for the heads up, and education. I had never heard of them either.

Nor me - sounds interesting. I also haven't heard any Peter Ulrich solo stuff apart from his MySpace....more cds to add to the list!
  14.
I recommend buying his first album "Pathways And Dawns" to begin with, a really nice album.

    Ok thanks :)
  15.
I found myself unexpectedly in the same room as a Piano Magic album last week (and going for half price too), so I snapped it up. It's one of their 4AD releases, Writers Without Homes, it's quite beautiful, artful and poetic and reminiscent of This Mortal Coil. I also detect more than a rumour of a DCD influence, and can easily see guest vocals by Brendan sitting comfortably in their soundscapes.
  16.
You wouldn't be wrong. I'd also recommend 'A Book I Should Not Read' from their 'Dark Horses EP' for indisputable DCDisms alongside the truly fabulous, though exceptionally rare, 'Never It Will Be The Same Again' album on EN/OF. Piano Magic covered 'Avatar' live on a number of occasions too.
  17.
Thanks, I'll make a mental note for when I'm back in the big city. Particularly looking forward to their next release...

OK...couldn't contain myself. I'll whisper though.

It's September now...seems to me there was a newsletter that said something about August? I'm itching for a very personal reason, but also because I can't wait to hear the new music on ARK. I'm a new fan...and really interested to see where Brendan takes us!

    OK...I'll shut up now.
  18.
Ah yes, Brother Dandvan, I have to say I contained myself, but was also meditating upon that brief mention of August, as the month came to a quiet close...

I believe an announcement is imminent.

But I can wait, and I know that when the album is released, Canada Post (not the most fleet-footed of postal services) will make sure I wait. That's when I'll get impatient, when everyone else has already gotten a copy and is waxing lyrical about it! But, I shouldn't raise my voice...
  19.
If I remember correctly, I think there was mention of an electronic file download being made available when it is released, so that would be one way to cut down on the long wait that is the postal mail system. :)
  20.
I'll wait for the real thing, I'm one of the old guard that likes their albums to be tangible objects, I guess. I think there was also mention of a special hard copy edition ahead of the official release, so that's what I'll be after.

Well, I guess it takes a long time to fill up the ark:

God observes that the earth is corrupted with violence and decides to destroy all life. But Noah "was a righteous man, blameless in his generation, [and] Noah walked with God," and God gives him instructions for the construction of an ark, into which he is told to bring "two of every sort [of animal] ... male and female," and their food.

God instructs Noah to board the Ark with his family, and seven pairs of the birds and the clean animals, and two pairs of the unclean animals, and "on the same day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened, and the rain was upon the earth," and God closes up the door of the Ark. The flood begins, and the waters prevail until all the high mountains are covered fifteen cubits deep, and all the people and animals and creeping things and birds of the heavens are blotted out from the earth, and only Noah and those with him in the Ark remain.

    ;)
  22.
Don't forget that the new Piano Magic album will be out next week...
  23.
And here I was under the impression that the Ark Brendan was building was a music album. Sigh. Time to head for higher ground! :)

The snow is falling steadily right now, it's a respectable -8c out there (not bad for December in this part of Canada), nice serene winter weather, and I'm glad I don't need to drive today...

I was rather fascinated by the Russian fireworks over Tromso yesterday... did anyone see that in the news?

First recording of my Bb minor native American bass flute... Eastern Cedar. A bit lossy but I've recorded worse. Been just kind of passing it out at random...
